Anchorwomen Earn First Win With, 18-5, Victory Over Mitchell

Providence, R.I.--Sophomore attacker Chloe Angelone (Bayville, N.Y.) scored the first three goals of her career, while Head Coach Neil Dupre earned his first career win, as the Rhode Island College women's lacrosse team defeated Mitchell, 18-5, at Alumni Field on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC jumped out to an early, 4-2, lead thanks to a pair of goals by freshman attacker Claire Greene (Storrs, Conn.).
 
• The Anchorwomen added five more goals in the second quarter to head into halftime with a four-goal, 9-5, advantage.
 
• The hosts had their best quarter of the season in the third frame, scoring seven times, while only allowing Mitchell to score once. The defense was even better in the fourth, keeping the visitors off the scoreboard, as RIC picked up a win for the first time in 2023.
 
• Angelone finished with three goals and two assists for a game-high five points.
 
• Greene and sophomore midfielder Hannah Marley (Tiverton, R.I.) also notched hat tricks, with four and three goals, respectively.
 
• Senior midfielder Shannon O'Connell (Narragansett, R.I.) picked up a team-best seven ground balls, while senior midfielder Ashley Rewers (Oakdale, Conn.) won six draw controls.
 
• Junior goalkeeper Olivia Brennan (Portsmouth, R.I.) earned the win (1-6) with six saves.
