No. 6 Owls Defeat Anchormen, 90-68

Providence, R.I.--Freshman guard Nathaniel Maldonado (Bronx, N.Y.) had 12 points off of the bench as the Rhode Island College men's basketball team was defeated by No. 6 Keene State, 90-68, in Little East action played at The Murray Center on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Keene jumped out to a quick, 17-2, lead with 13:32 remaining in the first half. RIC would then answer with an 8-0 run to cut the deficit down to just six, 17-11, with 11:56 left in the first half.
 
• Unfortunately for the Anchormen, that was as close as they would get in this game. KSU took a 19-point lead into the locker room at half and never looked back.
 
• Junior center Ousmane Kourouma (Woonsocket, R.I.) secured double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds.
 
• KSU was led by the dynamic duo of senior forward Jeff Hunter (Hudson, Mass.) and sophomore Octavio Brito (Lincoln, R.I.) as they both racked up 17 points. Hunter added 10 rebounds, three assists and two blocks, while Brito had six board and four dimes.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East action at Western Connecticut on Wednesday, Feb. 1 (7 p.m.).
