Wolves Down Anchormen, 98-59

Danbury, Conn.--Freshman guard Nathaniel Maldonado (Bronx, N.Y.) scored a team-high 12 points as the Rhode Island College men's basketball team fell at Western Connecticut, 98-59, in Little East action played at Feldman Arena on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC took the lead, 13-12, at 13:01 after a three-pointer from Maldonado. From that point on, the Wolves outscored the Anchormen, 39-18, to go into the half up 20, 51-31.
 
• WCSU never looked back from its early lead and ended up coasting to a victory.
 
•  RIC junior big man Ousmane Kourouma (Woonsocket, R.I.) scored 11 points in 16 minutes before fouling out.
 
• WSCU senior forward Ryan Alkins (Queens, N.Y.) finished with a game-high 25 points and converted all nine of his free throw attempts.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East play at Eastern Connecticut on Wednesday, Feb. 8 (5 p.m.).
