Kourouma Puts Up Double-Double in, 89-76, Loss at Southern Maine

Gorham, Maine--Junior center Ousmane Kourouma (Woonsocket, R.I.) battled for another double-double as the Rhode Island College men's basketball team fell at Southern Maine, 89-76, in Little East play on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The game was pretty much even with just 6:56 left to go in the first half as USM held a small one-point lead, 25-24.
 
• The Huskies would explode for 28 points on 10-for-11 shooting (which included a perfect 5-for-5 from downtown) to go into halftime up by 22, 53-31.
 
• RIC would fail to get within 10 points of the Huskies the rest of the game, though the Anchormen did bring the deficit to 11 and 12 points on multiple occasions.
 
• Kourouma finished the game with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
 
• The freshmen guard duo Nathaniel Maldonado (Bronx, N.Y.) and Anthony Rivera (Staten Island, N.Y.) scored 17 and 14 points, respectively.
 
• USM senior guard Cody Hawes (Carmel, Maine) almost had a triple-double with a fabulous 28-point, 10-rebound, six-assist performance in the victory.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East action at home vs. Keene State on Saturday, Jan. 28 (3 p.m.).
