Oliveira & Garcia Score in, 2-2, Draw With Castleton

Providence, R.I.--Senior forward Jonathan Oliveira (Providence, R.I.) scored his first goal of the season as the Rhode Island College men's soccer team battled Castleton to a, 2-2, draw in Little East action played at Alumni Field on Saturday afternoon.

THE BASICS
Rhode Island College 2, Castleton 2
Rhode Island College (1-4-1, 0-1-1 LEC)
Castleton (3-2-2, 1-0-1 LEC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC got on the board first in the 21st minute off of a header by sophomore midfielder Larry Garcia (Central Falls, R.I.). He was set up by senior midfielder Brandon Ramos (Boston, Mass.) and classmate defender Roman Davis (Watertown, Mass.).

• Castleton was able to answer back just before the half. In the 41st minute, sophomore forward Adolphe Alfani (Colchester, Vt.) intercepted a pass off a RIC turnover and beat Anchorman sophomore goalkeeper Wesley Perrotto (Pembroke, Mass.) one-on-one for his second goal of the year.

• The Anchormen jumped into the driver's seat in the 80th minute as junior midfielder Joseph Scolaro (Bristol, R.I.) sent a pass into the box, which freshman forward Ryan Delessio (Jamestown, R.I.) tapped over to Oliveira who then smoked a shot into the top right corner.

• The Anchormen were poised to close out the game, but the Spartans forced the deadlock in the 84th minute. The Anchormen were unable to clear the ball from deep in their zone and freshman midfielder Matt Spiller (Fairfax, Vt.) intercepted a pass and registered his first collegiate goal with a shot from the top of the box.

Oliveira, the team's highest returning goal scorer from a year ago, was making his season debut after missing the squad's first five contests.

• Perrotto was able to make three stops in the draw (1-2-1).

• Castleton senior goalkeeper Andres Soto-Burgos (Bronx, N.Y.) made nine saves on the day (2-2-2).
