Ryan Delessio (Jamestown, R.I.) scored his first collegiate goal as the Rhode Island College men's soccer team defeated UMass Dartmouth, 4-2, in Little East action played at Alumni Field on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The action-packed day started in the 16
th minute when RIC senior defender
Roman Davis (Watertown, Mass.) headed a pass from sophomore midfielder
Larry Garcia (Central Falls, R.I.) into the back of the net. Senior forward
Jonathan Oliveira (Providence, R.I.) also picked up an assist on the play.

• Less than a minute later, a yellow card was assessed to Corsair junior goalkeeper
Jack Waterhouse (Lowell, Mass.) right outside of the box, which set up a RIC free kick. Sophomore midfielder
Anthony Recinos (Providence, R.I.) tapped the ball back to sophomore midfielder
Jesus Guarcas (Providence, R.I.) who then sent a strike past Waterhouse for his second goal of the season.

• The first half fireworks didn't stop there as the Corsairs answered right back with a goal of their own in the 21
st minute. UMD freshman defender
Jed Theilman (Amherst, Mass.) headed a ball beautifully up ahead to sophomore forward
Lucas Passaro (Wellesley, Mass.), who was then able to control the ball at midfield. He passed it over to junior forward
Joey Paiva (Dartmouth, Mass.) who beat RIC sophomore goalkeeper
Wesley Perrotto (Pembroke, Mass.) one-on-one for his first goal of the season.

• RIC regained a two-score lead in the 29
th minute. Sophomore defender
Ryan Moniz (Riverside, R.I.) sent a throw-in to senior forward
Brandon Ramos (Boston, Mass.). Ramos forwarded the ball ahead to Oliveira who connected on his second goal in as many games.

• The second half opened with UMD scoring a goal in the 49
th minute. Paiva was able to steal the ball from a RIC defender and break in alone for his second marker of the game.

• The Anchormen responded right away with an important insurance goal in the 52
nd minute, with Delessio knocking down a UMD clearing attempt and burying a shot in the bottom right corner.

• Perrotto made five saves, including two 10-bell stops battling the sun, in the win (2-2-1).

• Waterhouse made three saves in the loss (0-2).
