Connecticut College Downs Men's Soccer, 4-0

New London, Conn.--Sophomore goalkeeper Wesley Perrotto (Pembroke, Mass.) made three saves as the Rhode Island College men's soccer team fell at Connecticut College, 4-0, on Tuesday afternoon. The Camels are the defending NCAA Div. III National Champions.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The first half was a scoreless draw as the hosts led in shots, 6-1, at the break.
 
• The floodgates opened for the Camels at the beginning of the second half. Junior forward Matt Scoffone (Thornton, Penn.) scored the first goal of the game in the 53rd minute. He was assisted by junior defender Sam Boehm (Lexington, Mass.).
 
• The next goal came just seven minutes later in the 60th minute as senior midfielder Augie Djerdjaj (Mahopac, N.Y.) netted his second marker of the season.
 
• Freshman forward Gavin Vanden Berg (Lake Forest Park) boosted the Camels' lead to 3-0 in the 72nd minute. Junior forward Jake Creus (Rye, N.Y.) was credited with his first assist of the year on the play.
 
• Junior forward Dylan Zane (Montego Bay, Jamaica) capped CC's offensive output with the club's fourth strike.
 
• Perrotto was tagged with his first loss of the season (1-1).
 
• Camel senior goalkeeper Sam Maidenberg (South Orange, N.J.) picked up the win after 76 minutes of play (2-0-1). Sophomore Peter Silvester (Smith's Parish, Bermuda) wrapped up the final 14 minutes.
 
• Connecticut College outshot the Anchormen, 25-3.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will open Little East play at Western Connecticut on Saturday, Sept. 17 (1 p.m.).
