Providence, R.I.—Junior goalkeeper Shannon O'Connell (Narragansett, R.I.) made seven saves, while classmate defender Amara Gibau (North Providence, R.I.) contributed three ground balls and two caused turnovers, as Rhode Island College lost vs. Western Connecticut, 19-0, in Little East women's lacrosse action played at Alumni Field on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The visitors ripped off eight first quarter goals to put the game away early. WCSU senior attacker Dominique DeMarsico (Danbury, Conn.) had three goals and an assist in the first 15 minutes.
 
• Western led, 14-0, at halftime and cruised to their first LEC win.
 
• The visitors had nine different goal scorers on the day and 11 student-athletes picked up at least a point.
 
• DiMarsico finished with four goals and one assist for five points. Junior midfielder Colleen Foley (Kingston, Mass.) had three goals and an assist for four points, while classmate midfielder Jaymee Alfonso (Danbury, Conn.) pitched in with two goals and two assists for four points.
 
• Western sophomore goalkeeper Molly Bresnahan (Noank, Conn.) made three saves to earn the shutout win (2-0).
 
• O'Connell suffered the loss (0-3).
