Auburndale, Fla.--Senior third baseman Jarrad Grossguth (Coventry, R.I.) drove in the only run for the Rhode Island College baseball team in a 14-1 setback vs. Heidelberg at the RussMatt Invitational on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Heidelberg scored three runs in the second inning, then doubled that performance with six runs in the third to build a 9-0 advantage. Three of those runs came off the bat of HU graduate student outfielder Keaton Mark (Oneota, N.Y.) thanks to a homer that sailed over the left field fence.
 
• RIC scored its lone one run when Grossguth plated freshman right fielder Daniel Trzepacz (Mont Vernon, N.H.) in the fourth inning.
 
• Heidelberg would tack on a few more runs in the fifth and sixth innings to earn its first win of the season.
 
• Grossguth's double was his only hit, finishing 1-for-3 on the day.
 
• Trzepacz also had a double and went 2-for-3.
 
• Mark was 1-for-2 with a home run, walk, three runs scored and four RBI.
 
• HU senior pitcher Ross Thompson (Wadsworth, Ohio) pitched six innings, allowing six hits, while striking out five batters, to earn his first win of the campaign (1-0).
 
• RIC junior pitcher Connor Davey (Cheshire, Conn.) picked up the loss (0-1) for the Anchormen.
