HOW IT HAPPENED
• Mass Maritime opened up the first six minutes of the game by scoring six goals. The Buccaneers added another to end the quarter with a 7-0 advantage.
• Sophomore attacker
Maddie Kross (Peachtree, Ga.) netted one to open up the second quarter and also got a goal early in the third stanza.
• O'Connell added three ground balls, one caused turnover and a pair of draw controls.
• Kross finished with two goals and scooped up three ground balls.
• MMA freshman attacker
Lindsy Durgin (Rochester, Mass.) netted a game-high six goals.
• Buccaneer junior goalkeeper
Aviva Beringhause (Providence, R.I.) stopped four shots and got the win (6-2).
• RIC sophomore goalie
Olivia Brennan (Portsmouth, R.I.) was tabbed with the loss (0-1).
