Boston, Mass.--Junior guard
Shion Darby (Peekskill, N.Y.) scored 22 points as the Rhode Island College men's basketball team used a big second half to down UMass Boston, 71-68, and snap a four-game losing streak in Little East action Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Beacons held a five-point, 36-31, advantage over the Anchormen after the first half.
• RIC took its first lead of the second half with 13:56 left after sophomore guard
Jordan Riley (Windsor, Conn.) hit a free throw to make the game, 41-40.
• The two squads would trade leads until a jump shot from senior guard
Keyshaun Jacobs (Lynn, Mass.) gave the visitors a six-point, 65-59, advantage. Jacobs would hit the game-sealing free throws with 12 seconds left, to give RIC a three point lead, 71-68.
• UMass Boston senior guard
Charlie Mitchell (Boston, Mass.) would miss a free throw with five seconds left, but a UMass offensive rebound gave the hosts some life. Junior guard
Tommy Burris (Dalton, Mass.) missed what would have been the game-tying three at the buzzer as RIC escaped with the win.
• Darby's 22 was complimented by his team-high five assists.
• Jacobs finished the game with 13 points, two rebounds and a pair of assists.
• Sophomore center
Ousmane Kourouma (Woonsocket, R.I.) recorded a double-double, netting 12 points and corralling 11 rebounds. He added three rejections as well.
• UMass senior guard
Charles Mitchell (Boston, Mass,) had a game-high 30 points for the Beacons, while his twin brother Charlie had a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists.
