Shion Darby (Peekskill, N.Y.) scored a team-high 19 points as the Rhode Island College men's basketball team fell, 74-67, vs. MIT at The Murray Center on Thursday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC was up by six, 36-30, after freshman guard
Anthony Rivera (Staten Island, N.Y.) hit a layup with 3:04 left to go in the half. MIT then proceeded to go on a run and take the lead right before the half, 38-37.

• RIC and the Engineers went back-and-forth all game. In the second half, RIC led the majority of the time until a huge three-pointer by MIT freshman
Rome Delgado-Gonzalez (Miami, Fla.) with 11:57 remaining. That shot put MIT up three, 57-54.

• The Anchormen tied the game up at 65 after Darby made 1-of-2 at the free-throw line, but were never able to regian the lead. RIC missed a slew of key free-throws in the final minutes and MIT walked away with its first win of the 2022-23 season.

• Darby also had seven rebounds to go with his 19 points.

• Junior center
Ousmane Kourouma (Woonsocket, R.I.) notched his second straight double-double and second 20-reboundseffort, finishing with 19 points and 20 rebounds.

Tim Minicozzi (Belmont, Mass.) and Delgado-Gonzalez led the visitors with 22 and 20 apiece.

• MIT heavily outshot RIC from distance (14-for-25 against 4-for-23), while RIC missed 14 free-throws (15-for-29).
