Women's Soccer Falls at Maine-Farmington

Farmington, Maine--Senior goalkeeper Maya Benedict (Tempe, Ariz.) made eight stops as the Rhode Island College women's soccer team fell at Maine-Farmington, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Both squads went scoreless in the first half of play. The Beavers led in shots, 10-7.
 
• The hosts wasted no time scoring following intermission, netting their first goal in the 48th minute. Junior midfielder Audrey Fletcher (Monmouth, Maine) was able to beat Benedict for her ninth score of the year.
 
• In the 76th minute, the Beavers opened the floodgates. Senior midfielder Emily Boyle (Orleans, Mass.) scored off of a feed from Fletcher to make the game 2-0. About 45 seconds later, sophomore midfielder Abby Lash (Waldoboro, Manie) scored on a Boyle feed.
 
• Benedict made eight saves in the loss (2-9-1).
 
• UMF freshman goalkeeper Paige Gonya (Sabattus, Maine) picked up her fifth win (5-6-3) with eight stops.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East action at Keene State on Friday, Oct. 28 (6 p.m.).
