Men's Soccer Falls at Wheaton, 2-0

Norton, Mass.--Junior goalkeeper Jake Reed (Cumberland, R.I.) made nine saves as the Rhode Island College men's soccer team lost at Wheaton, 2-0, on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Defense was on display early in the game as neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first half.
 
• In the 69th minute, Wheaton was able to break the deadlock when sophomore forward Alasdair Ferrier (Concord, N.H.) received a pass from junior forward Luke Strange (Portland, Oregon) and beat Reed for the first goal of the game.
 
• Not even a minute later, Ferrier struck again, this time unassisted, to give the hosts a comfortable, 2-0, lead.
 
• Reed made nine saves in the loss (0-5-2).
 
• Wheaton freshman goalkeeper Michael O'Gara (Ardmore, Penn.) earned the win (2-1-1) with two saves in 80 minutes of action. Senior goalkeeper Kris Strempel (Longmeadow, Mass.) finished the game and made one stop. 
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Fitchburg State on Wednesday, Jan. 26 (6 p.m.).
