Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Warriors Slip Past Anchorwomen, 2-0

Providence, R.I.—Freshman forward Tayshia Cary (Wakefield, R.I.) notched the host's lone shot on goal as Rhode Island College lost, 2-0, vs. Eastern Connecticut in Little East women's soccer action played at Alumni Field on Wednesday afternoon.

THE BASICS
Eastern Connecticut 2, Rhode Island College 0
Eastern Connecticut (5-4-3, 3-2-1 LEC)
Rhode Island College (2-7-2, 1-4-1 LEC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The game was slow from an offensive standpoint and was marred by a slew of throw-ins by both clubs throughout the contest.

• The Warriors had two premium scoring chances in the first 10 minutes, but each offering was off net.

• Eastern Connecticut scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 25th minute. Sophomore defender Olivia Davidson (Waterford, Conn.) controlled the ball just outside the box on the near sideline. She found junior midfielder Mackenzie Teper (Lisbon, Conn.) inside the box and Teper made a nice one-touch pass to sophomore defender Daria DiBiasio (Richmond, R.I.) who buried her first of the season.

• The Anchorwomen came on strong in the second half, but a defensive lapse deep in RIC territory gave the visitor's an important insurance goal with 17 minutes left in the contest. Freshman forward Katelyn Hebert (Bethpage, N.Y.) had possession at the top of the box and slipped a pass behind the Anchorwomen defense to sophomore midfielder Hailey Cocca (Stratford, Conn.) for her first marker of the season.

• RIC senior goalkeeper Maya Benedict (Tempe, Ariz.) made five saves in the loss (2-7-1).

• ECSU junior goalkeeper Rachel Hughes (Columbia, Conn.) made one save in the shutout win (2-3).
