Gabrielle McGowan (Warwick, R.I.) picked up a goal and one assist for three points as Rhode Island College defeated Mass. Maritime, 4-1, in collegiate women's soccer action played at Alumni Field on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchorwomen got on the board just 2:05 into the contest when freshman midfielder
Serena Forte (Hope, R.I.) broke in from the near sideline and lofted a shot towards the net. A Buccaneer defender attempted to knock down the shot, but instead deflected it past freshman goalkeeper
Lindsy Durgin (Rochester, Mass.) for an own goal.
• The Anchorwomen quickly added to their lead in the 10
th minute when McGowan notched her second marker of the season on a pass by freshman forward
Tess Dugan (Bristol, R.I.). It was Dugan's first collegiate point.
• RIC dominated the first half, taking a 2-0 advantage on the scoreboard and a 23-2 lead in shots into the intermission.
• The Buccaneers got back into the game in the 62
nd minute when junior defender
Julia Quindley (Plymouth, Mass.) launched a free kick from 40 yards out that just eluded the outstretched hands of RIC freshman goalkeeper
Reagan Kerecz (Tolland, Conn.) for her second goal of the season.
• Some nifty passing inside the 18-yard box by freshman forward
Jayde Fernandes (Pawtucket, R.I.) and McGowan set up junior midfielder
Alexandra Amore (Saunderstown, R.I.) for her first goal of the year in the 76
th minute.
• Forte capped the game with her second goal of the year in the 88
th minute as freshman defender
Rebecca Tomao (Smithfield, R.I.) picked up her first collegiate point with an assist on the play.
BY THE NUMBERS
• Kerecz made two saves to earn her first collegiate win (1-7).
• Durgin turned away 11 Anchorwomen offerings in a losing effort (1-2-1).
• RIC held the advantage in shots (32-3) and corner kicks (8-1).
• The win for the Anchorwomen snapped a 12-game losing streak. RIC's previous win was a 2-1 victory over Simmons on Oct. 21, 2019.
