RIC Blanks Dean for Third Straight Shutout Win

Franklin, Mass.--Junior forward Luis Blanco (Pawtucket, R.I.) tallied a goal and assist for a total of three points in Rhode Island College's, 4-0, victory over Dean College in a non-conference game played at Lippet Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Blanco got the scoring going early, finding the back of the net in the eighth minute off an assist by junior forward Brandon Ramos (Boston, Mass.).
 
• Ramos notched another helper when he set up sophomore forward Samuel Talavera (Providence, R.I.) in the 67th minute. It was Talavera's second goal of the campaign.
 
• Senior forward Jonathan Oliveira (Providence, R.I.) scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 82nd minute. Freshman midfielder Roy Barrios (Pawtucket, R.I.) had the assist on the play.
 
• Freshman defender Aidan Moriarty (Wakefield, R.I.) netted his first collegiate goal with just 18 ticks left on the clock to secure the Anchormen's victory.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
• Senior goalkeeper Charlie Tashjian (West Warwick, R.I.) stopped four shots on the afternoon, earning his third clean sheet on the season and his fourth win (4-2).
 
• RIC held a large shot advantage, outshooting the Bulldogs (18-8), which included a 12-4 shots on goal advantage. Dean led in corner kicks (7-5).
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East play at Castleton on Saturday, Sept. 25 (1 p.m.).
