Men's Soccer Wins, 1-0, in Overtime at Nichols

Dudley, Mass.—Freshman midfielder Juan Barrios (Pawtucket, R.I.) scored his first career goal in the 94th minute to lift Rhode Island College past Nichols, 1-0, in overtime on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The game was even throughout, with RIC holding a slight advantage in shots in both the first (7-6) and second (11-9) halves.
 
• The game remained scoreless and required extra time. Both teams registered a shot in the extra session, but junior midfielder Joseph Scolaro  (Bristol, R.I.) set up Barrios for the "Golden Goal" just 3:36 into the first overtime.
 
• RIC senior goalkeeper Charlie Tashjian (West Warwick, R.I.) made seven saves in the shutout victory (2-2)
 
• Nichols freshman goalkeeper Franco Barreto Santana (Leominster, Mass.) had eight saves in the loss (1-1).
 
BY THE NUMBERS
• RIC led in shots (19-16), while the hosts held the advantage in corner kicks (6-2).
