Milton, Mass.--Freshman midfielder Gabrielle McGowan (Warwick, R.I.) scored her first collegiate goal as the Rhode Island College women's soccer team fell, 4-1, at Curry in the season-opener for both clubs on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Junior forward Brooke Bonneau (Claremont, N.H.) opened the scoring in the 19^th minute with an unassisted marker. The hosts took a 1-0 lead into halftime after holding a 9-3 advantage in shots.
 
• CC sophomore defender Sydney Dewhurst (East Bridgewater, Mass.) struck in the 64^th minute on a pass from junior midfielder McKenna Reid (Irvine, Calif.) with what proved to be the eventual game-winner.
 
• McGowan answered with an unassisted strike in the 78^th minute for her first marker.
 
• Senior forward Samantha Borges (Somerset, Mass.) scored the club's third goal in the 79^th minute. Freshman Brooke Sullivan notched the assist.
 
• Reid set up Dewhurst in the 87^th minute to close out the game's scoring.
 
• CC freshman goalkeeper Stella Schofield made two saves to earn the win (1-0).
 
• RIC freshman goalkeeper Reagan Kerecz (Tolland, Conn.) stopped 14 saves in her collegiate debut (0-1).
