Nate Vigeant (Coventry, R.I.) went 1-for-3 with a pair of RBI as Rhode Island College fell to UMass Boston, 4-3, in Little East baseball action played at Pontarelli Field on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC jumped on the Beacons senior starting pitcher
Tylor Arruda (New Bedford, Mass.) for a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning with a sacrifice fly by freshman first basemen
Cal Parrillo (Greenville, R.I.) and a Vigeant single up the middle to stake the Anchormen to a 2-0 lead.

• The Beacons responded in the third frame with a sacrifice fly by senior first basemen
Craig Corliss (Hopkinton, Mass.) and a throwing error that allowed a pair of runners to cross the plate and allow UMB to take a 4-2 advantage.

• The middle innings were dominated by both starting pitchers as no runs were scored until the bottom of the sixth stanza.

• Arruda retired 14 straight Anchormen during the middle innings.

• RIC got one run back in the sixth with a sacrifice fly by Vigeant to score senior third basemen
