Nick D'Ambra (Coventry, R.I.) went 2-for-6 with four RBI and three runs scored as the Rhode Island College baseball team split a doubleheader at No. 7 Southern Maine (0-14; 10-0) in Little East action played at Ed Flaherty Field on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One:
• The Huskies bats were alive early as they struck for four runs on five hits in the home half of the first frame.

• RIC recorded their first hit in the second inning with a senior third basemen
Ray Zincone (West Warwick, R.I.) single up the middle, but he was unable to come around to score.

• USM added another run in the second and added three more runs on four hits in the bottom of the third to build an 8-0 lead.

• USM used a huge sixth inning as they pushed across six runs on five hits and one error to take a commanding, 14-0, lead and end the contest after seven.

Ben Lambert (Saco, ME) earned the win (3-0), allowing just three hits, while striking out six, in a complete game effort. RIC sophomore pitcher

Cam Seymour (Saco, Maine) went 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI, while sophomore third baseman
Jonathan Wilson (East Granby, Conn.) went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Game Two:
• RIC broke the scoreless tie in the top of the fourth frame when D'Ambra crossed the plate during a double play.

• RIC put another run on the board in the fifth on a freshman designated hitter

Cam Santerre (Bristol, R.I.) to score from third.

• The Anchormen bats got hot in the seventh inning as they pushed five runs across the plate on four hits, paced by a two-run D'Ambra triple, and took a 7-0 lead over the Huskies.

• The Anchormen pushed three more runs across in the top half of the ninth, highlighted by another two-run triple by D'Ambra, to finish the visitor's offensive output for the day.

Tyler Shemick (Foster, R.I.) allowed just three hits and struck out seven in seven innings of work.

Shaun Gamelin (West Kingston, R.I.) struck out three and did not allow a hit in two innings of work.
