Cameron Santerre (Bristol, R.I.) smacked a three-run homer, as Rhode Island College took game one as part of a doubleheader split (4-1; 13-1) with Southern Maine at Pontarelli Field on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One:
• Southern Maine took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth as sophomore second baseman
Jonathan Wilson (East Granby, Conn.) doubled and later scored on junior catcher
Jason Komulainen's (Gorham, Maine) sacrifice fly.
• The Anchormen went on top by two, 3-1, in the fifth as senior shortstop
Rommy Morel (Providence, R.I.) walked and sophomore left fielder
Joey Coro (North Providence, R.I.) doubled to put runners on second and third. Santerre smacked a long drive that hit off the top of the left field fence and went over for his first collegiate homer.
• RIC added an important insurance run in the seventh on a freshman designated hitter
John Willette (Johnston, R.I.) RBI single.
• Davey was masterful all afternoon, allowing just five hits and striking out 10 in seven innings of work, to pick up his second (2-1) win of the year. Freshman
Terry Murray (Norfolk, Mass.) got a 1-2-3 eighth and junior reliever
Shaun Gamelin (West Kingston, R.I.) kept the Huskies at bay in the ninth for his second save on the season.

Game Two:
• The Anchormen tied the game, 1-1, in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by senior third baseman
Ray Zincone (West Warwick, R.I.).
• The Huskies plated five runs in the third, highlighted by a three-run homer (4) by senior right fielder
Dylan Hapworth (Winslow, Maine).
• USM scored twice in the fifth, crossing the plate on a wild pitch and on an RBI sacrifice fly by junior center fielder
Sam Troiano (South Portland, Maine).
• The visitors got three in the sixth, led by a two-run double by junior designated hitter
Brogan Searle-Belanger (Saco, Maine) and then two more in the seventh to end the game after seven frames.

James Sinclair (Portland, Maine) was outstanding, allowing just one run on five hits to go along with four strikeouts in a complete game win (2-0).

BY THE NUMBERS
• Santerre finished the day going 2-for-7 with two runs scored, a homer and three RBI. Willette went 2-for-5 with an RBI.
