Hannah Ambrosia Scores Twice in, 17-4, Setback to Keene State

Providence, R.I.—Senior midfielder Hannah Ambrosia (Warwick, R.I.) netted a pair of goals as the Rhode Island College women's lacrosse team fell to Keene State, 17-4, in Little East action played at Alumni Field on Thursday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• KSC had the offense flowing as the visitors scored the first 10 goals of the game before the Anchorwomen were able to get on the board on a junior midfielder Kassondra Rivera (Warwick, R.I.) unassisted marker with 5:24 before halftime.
 
• RIC freshman attacker Maddie Kross (Peachtree City, Ga.) found the back of the net after being set up by junior defender Amara Gibau (North Providence, R.I.) two minutes later as Keene eventually took an 11-2 advantage into the halftime intermission.
 
• Ambrosia scored her first goal of the contest two minutes into the second half and found paydirt once again with 12:27 to play in the game.
 
• KSC scored the final three goals of the contest to secure the victory.
 
• KSC was led by junior attacker Brigid Casey (Mont Vernon, N.H.) with four goals and three assists for seven points to go along with two ground balls and nine draw controls.
 
• Sophomore midfielder Haile Ratajack (Brewster, N.Y.) finished with four goals a game-high seven ground balls and tied Casey for the game-high with nine draws.
 
• Sophomore attacker Jackie DeAngelis (New London, N.H.) added two goals and four assists for six points.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
• RIC sophomore goalkeeper Shannon O'Connell (Narragansett, R.I.) recorded nine saves in the loss (1-4). Junior defenders Amara Gibau (North Providence, R.I.) and Jennie Fiano (Smithfield, R.I.) each finished with four ground balls.
 
• KSC junior goalkeeper Haley Terva (Granby, Conn.) made a pair of saves in the win (3-2).
 
• KSC held the advantage in shots, 30-10 and draw controls, 18-5.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East play at home vs. Castleton on Saturday, April 17 (4 p.m.).
