Antonia Corsinetti (Johnston, R.I.) led the way with 10 points each as the Rhode Island College women's basketball team defeated Southern Maine, 73-52, in non-conference action played at Hill Gymnasium on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• A quick start by the Anchorwomen gave them a six-point, 14-8, lead with the help of a three-ball by Corsinetti with 4:47 to play in the first frame.

• From there, the Anchorwomen went on to increase their lead by as many as 11, 22-11, on a Corsinetti jumper.

• A free throw by junior center
Willcia McBorrough (Providence, R.I.) with 4:29 left in the first half, gave the Anchorwomen their largest lead of the opening 20 (13), 31-18.

• USM used a 6-0 run the final 2:38 of the first half to cut the Anchorwomen lead down to six, 34-28, heading into the halftime.

• RIC used a strong third quarter to increase its lead, as they led by as many as 19, 56-37, after a McBorrough layup in the final minute.

• RIC took a 17-point, 56-39, advantage into the final quarter.

Maci Dorantes (Bristol, Conn.) layup gave the Anchorwomen the biggest lead of the day (21), 62-41, with 8:18 left to play.

• The Anchorwomen continued to make shots down the final stretch of the fourth quarter, increasing their lead to 23, 73-50, on a sophomore guard
Maire Gallagher (Worcester, Mass.) layup with just under 2:00 minutes left.

• Guerrier added five rebounds, two assists and recorded one steal and one block. Corsinetti grabbed two rebounds and handed out a pair of assists.

• RIC shot 52 percent (32-for-62) from the field, 31 percent (5-for-16) from three-point range and 57 percent (4-for-7) from the foul line.

 • USM shot 36 percent (22-for-62) from the field, 50 percent (2-for-4) from downtown and 46 percent (6-for-13) from the foul line.

• RIC held the advantage on the glass, 40-35, and handed out two more assists than the Huskies (12; 10).
