Nardolillo's Career-Highs Power Women's Basketball Past Castleton, 60-46

Providence, R.I.—Freshman forward Angelina Nardolillo (Hinsdale, N.H.) registered career-high's with 19 points and 15 rebounds as Rhode Island College opened Little East play with a 60-46 win vs. Castleton on Saturday at The Murray Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Senior guard Abby Phelan (Norton, Mass.) hit two free throws at 1:12 of the first quarter to give RIC the lead, 12-11, which it would take into the first break of the game.
 
• Castleton would take the lead back with 5:24 left in the half thanks to a shot by freshman guard Jordan Levesque (Holderness, N.H.) to go up by one, 20-19. The Anchorwomen proceeded to go on a 13-0 run to end the half, highlighted by two three-point field goals by junior guard Antonia Corsinetti (Johnston, R.I.).
 
• RIC led 32-20 at halftime.
 
• Nardolillo hit a layup with 5:20 left in the third quarter to give the host a game-high, 22-point, 43-21, lead. The Spartans would cut the lead down to 10 a few times, but never got within single digits.
 
• Corsinetti hit four shots from downtown for 12 points.
 
• Castleton was led by freshman guard Ryleigh Coloutti (Castleton, Vt.) and graduate guard Kelly Vuz (Blairstown, N.J.). Coloutti had a team-high 12 points to go along with four rebounds and two steals. Vuz chipped in with 11 points, five rebounds and three assists.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
• RIC shot 40 percent (23-for-57) from the field, 36 percent (8-for-22) from downtown and 75 percent (6-for-8) from the free throw line.
 
• Castleton shot 28 percent (16-for-58) from the field, 28 percent (7-for-25) from behind the three-point arc and 50 percent (7-for-14) from the free throw line.
 
The Anchorwomen dominated in rebounding (50-30) and handed out 10 more assists (19-9) than the visitors.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East play at Southern Maine on Wednesday, Dec. 8 (5:30 p.m.).
