Providence, R.I.—Senior guard
Keyshaun Jacobs (Lynn, Mass.) scored 30 points as the Rhode Island College men's basketball team opened Little East play with an 84-64 win over Castleton at The Murray Center on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC bolted out to a 17-4 lead with 13:17 left in the first half thanks to a trio of Jacobs' three-point shots.
• The Spartans would battle back to within two, 24-22, with just 7:06 left in the opening half when senior guard
Eric Shaw (Sutter Creek, Calif.) hit a three-point shot. Castleton went on an 18-7 run during that time span.
• The Anchormen held a lead that hovered around double digits for most of the second half. Shaw would hit another three at 7:17 to cut RIC's lead down to eight points, 60-52. The hosts would outscore the Spartans, 24-12, the rest of the way to secure the win.
• Sophomore forward
Ousmane Kourouma (Woonsocket, R.I.) pulled down a career-best 22 rebounds, which included 11 on the offensive glass, to go along with 11 points for a double-double. He also notched three blocks.
• Sophomore guard
Jordan Riley (Windsor, Conn.) scored 16 points, grabbed four boards and handed out seven assists, which were a game-high.
• Shaw had 13 points for the visitors. Junior forward
Remy Brown (Boca Raton, Fla.) led the way with 15 points, 13 of which came in the first half.
BY THE NUMBERS
• RIC shot 42 percent (30-for-72) from the field, 36 percent (11-for-30) from downtown and 72 percent (13-for-18) from the free throw line.
• Castleton shot 39 percent (26-for-66) from the field, 26 percent (10-for-38) from downtown and 40 percent (2-for-5) from the charity stripe.
• RIC junior guard
Shion Darby (Peekskill, N.Y.) had 14 points in today's contest. He is now just 18 points away from 1,000 points for his career.
