Shion Darby (Peekskill, N.Y.) scored a game-high 26 points as Rhode Island College defeated UMass Boston, 89-76, in Little East men's basketball action at the Murray Center on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC started the game up by 22, 23-1, 8:20 into the game. The Beacons wouldn't score a field goal until the 11:16 mark of the first half. UMass Boston would flirt with being down by single digits, but never mounted a serious threat to the hosts for the remainder of the contest.
• Darby made 14 of 16 from the free throw line and also had seven rebounds.
• Sophomore center
Ousmane Kourouma (Woonsocket, R.I.) recorded another double-double, netting 10 points and corralling 11 boards. He also posted a career-high seven blocks.
• Sophomore guard
Damian Tucker (Boynton Beach, Fla.) scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds off of the bench.
• UMass Boston senior guard
Charles Mitchell (Boston, Mass) scored a team-high 25 points to go along with six rebounds and four assists.
BY THE NUMBERS
• RIC shot 43 percent (27-for-63) from the field, 27 percent (6-for-22) from downtown and 74 percent (29-for-39) from the free throw line.
• UMass Boston shot 35 percent (27-for-77) from the field, 28 percent (8-for-29) from long range and 78 percent (14-for-18) from the charity stripe.
