Men's Basketball Gets Back to Winning Ways With, 79-67, Victory at Rivier

Nashua, N.H.—Junior guard Keyshaun Jacobs (Lynn, Mass.) notched a game-high 28 points, while junior backcourt mate Shion Darby (Peekskill, N.Y.) scored 26, as Rhode Island College bested Rivier, 79-67, at the Muldoon Center on Tuesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• A jumper by Rivier senior forward Miles Gillette (Washington, D.C.) gave the hosts a 36-35 lead with 1:35 left in the first half.
 
• RIC sophomore guard Jordan Riley (Windsor, Conn.) canned a three on the next possession to put the visitors on top. Jacobs converted a layup and the ensuing foul shot to send the Anchormen into halftime with a three-point, 41-38, lead.
 
• Sophomore guard Kevin Edler (Ellington, Conn.) sank a layup to pull the Raiders within three, 64-61, with 6:00 remaining in the second half, but RIC embarked on a 15-6 run to close out the win.
 
• Jacobs was a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line. Darby added six boards, four steals and a pair of assists.
 
• Sophomore forward Ousmane Kourouma (Woonsocket, R.I.) hauled in a game-best 16 rebounds, which included nine boards on the offensive glass. Riley finished a rebound shy of a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds.
 
• Gillette had a double-double for the hosts, finishing the night with 21 points and 11 rebounds.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
• RIC shot 37 percent (25-for-68) from the floor, 25 percent (7-for-28) from three-point range and 79 percent (22-for-26) from the free throw line.
 
• Rivier shot 35 percent (25-for-72) from the field, 33 percent (8-for-24) from downtown and 69 percent (9-for-13) from the charity stripe.
 
• RIC held a slight edge, 46-44, in rebounding.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will open Little East play at home vs. Castleton on Saturday, Dec. 4 (3 p.m.).
