HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Beacons scored off freshman defender Georgia Bonney's (Kingston Mass.)  corner kick in the second minute as senior midfielder Cal Pitts (Marshfield, Mass.) got behind the defense and tapped the ball into the net for her first goal of the season.

• The Beacons leading scorer, senior defender Mary Jo Murphy (Worcester, Mass.), picked off a failed clearing attempt and fired her ninth strike of the year into an open net in the eighth minute.

• At the tail end of the half, the Beacons struck gold again, this time in the 38th minute with senior forward Morgan Palma (Halifax, Mass.) and junior forward Isa Andrade (Cambridge, Mass.) setting up junior forward Kaylee Haynes (Bridgewater, Mass.) for her fifth of the year.

• Both UMass Boston and RIC had open net scoring opportunities in the first half, but both squads failed to capitalize.

• Fernandes scored one of the more impressive goals of the afternoon in the 59th minute, launching a rocket into the top corner of the net from about 40 yards out.

• However, UMass Boston went right down the field and hit a near identical shot under a minute later. Senior forward Grace Oliver (Rockland, Mass.) was the scorer on the play, with freshman midfielder Maggie Kelley (Paxton, Mass.) picking up the assist.

• Palma grabbed her second assist of the game, while Murphy put away her second goal of the day and 10th on the season in the 66th minute.

•  UMB junior goalkeeper Maria Spylios (Leominster, Mass.) made a diving save off an Anchorwoman free kick mid-way through the second half to keep the hosts from finding the back of the net.
