Women's Soccer Falls at Eastern Connecticut, 3-1

Willimantic, Conn.—Rhode Island College freshman forward Serena Forte (Hope, R.I.) scored her club-leading fifth goal of the season as the Anchorwomen lost, 3-1, at Eastern Connecticut State in Little East women's soccer action on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Warriors struck first in the 18th minute when senior midfielder Sierra Decarli (Tolland, Conn.) converted a cross from sophomore midfielder Alexie Root (Old Saybrook, Conn.) for her second goal of the season. Freshman midfielder Dani Rovalino (Simsbury, Conn.) was also credited with the assist.
 
• ESCU grabbed their second goal thanks 90 seconds later on senior forward Carlie Dreyfus' (Stafford Springs, Conn.) third of the year. Sophomore midfielder Victoria Roman (Mexico City, Mexico) had the assist.
 
• Forte scored the visitor's lone goal in the 40th minute and was helped out by freshman defender Delaney LaRose (Johnston, R.I.).
 
• Eastern Connecticut put the final nail in the coffin in the 77th minute when sophomore forward Ashlyn Rodgers' (Portsmouth, R.I.) shot from 20 yards out was deflected and snuck past RIC freshman goalkeeper Reagan Kerecz (Tolland, Conn.) for her second goal of the year.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
• Kerecz stopped four shots in the losing effort (2-11).
 
• Eastern senior goalkeeper Alexis Tyrell (Torrington, Conn.) was credited with five saves and the win (3-5-2).
 
• ECSU paced RIC in shots (15-10) and shots on goal (7-6), while RIC led in corner kicks (6-3).
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East play at Southern Maine on Saturday, Oct. 16 (1 p.m.).
