HOW IT HAPPENED
• Petrella and classmates goalkeeper Charlie Tashjian (West Warwick, R.I.), midfielder Kossivi Dogbey (Providence, R.I.) and midfielder Sa-Leem Kamarah (Providence, R.I.) were recognized prior to the match with a Senior Day ceremony.

• Dogbey kicked off the scoring for the Anchormen, as he headed in a pass from senior forward Roman Davis (Watertown, Mass.) in the seventh minute. It was Dogbey's first strike of the season.

• In the 18th minute, Elms' sophomore forward Musa Jiana (Brikama, Gambia) netted his ninth goal of the season, receiving a pass from senior defender Johnathan Roach (Norwalk, Conn.) and breaking in from top right of the box to fire a shot past Tashjian.

• The Anchormen responded in the 26th minute when junior forward Brandon Ramos (Boston, Mass.) threaded a pass beautifully to sophomore midfielder Anthony Recinos (Providence, R.I.) for his first goal on the season.

• Rhode Island College struck gold again in the 38th minute, this time getting the ball to longtime defender Petrella on a corner kick, for his first career marker. Freshman midfielder Zachary DaSilva (Warwick, R.I.) took the corner and Petrella emerged from the pack to head the ball past Elms' junior goalkeeper Collin Liedke (Newington, Conn.).

• An energetic crowd watched the Anchormen go into halftime up, 3-1, and leading in shots (10-6).

• It took RIC just five minutes in the second frame for RIC to add to its advantage when Kamarah was tackled in the box and was selected to take the penalty kick. He beat Liedke for his third goal of the season.

• The hosts put the final nail in the coffin in the 65th minute as Dogbey fed Kamarah with a through ball into the far corner, which allowed him to feed junior forward Luis Blanco (Pawtucket, R.I.) in front of the net for his team leading eighth goal of the year.

BY THE NUMBERS
• Tashjian played the first 55 minutes of the match and recorded four saves in the win (9-6). Sophomore goalkeeper Andrew Silva (Cumberland, R.I.) played the remainder of the game and stopped four Blazer attempts.

• Liedke stopped six shots in the loss (2-7).
