HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC had the first scoring opportunity of the day when a handball in the box resulted in a penalty kick for senior forward Jonathan Oliveira (Providence, R.I.) in the sixth minute. USM senior goalkeeper Hayes Estrella (Kennebunk, Maine) dove to his right and smothered the attempt to keep the game scoreless.

• In the 59th minute, senior forward Sa-Leem Kamarah (Providence, R.I.) received a gorgeous feed from Oliveira, but a sprawling Estrella made a highlight save.

• RIC senior defender Steven Schmidt (Saunderstown, R.I.) had three quality chances to put RIC on top in the second half, which included a pair of headers that went wide, but USM continued to keep RIC at bay.

• The two teams headed into overtime with RIC dominating possession and leading in shots, 13-8.

• Oliveira helped set up the winning tally as his shot attempt was stifled at the top of the box, but leaked through the defense to Blanco who buried his sixth of the year.
