Myrtle Beach, S.C.—Junior right fielder Erica Fluskey (Trumbull, CT) went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, a double and two RBI as Rhode Island College defeated Cairn, 11-6, at the Fastpitch Dreams Classic on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first as sophomore second baseman Marissa Cushman (Cranston, RI) and Fluskey each picked up RBI.

• The Highlanders got two back in the bottom of the first stanza.

• Fluskey doubled in a run and sophomore third baseman Katrina Kazen (Warwick, RI) knocked in another in the third to put the visitors on top by three, 5-2.

• The Anchorwomen added runs in the fifth and sixth frames to build a 7-4 advantage. Cairn pulled within a run, 7-6, in the home half of the sixth.

• Freshman center fielder Megan Cooney (Warwick, RI) doubled in a pair as part of a four-run seventh to help secure the win.

• RIC freshman starter Faith Turinese (Plainville, MA) picked up the win (2-0), allowing four runs on five hits in 4.1 innings of work. Junior reliever Riley Kernan (Middletown, NJ) earned the save (1), striking out three in 1.1 of work.
