Box Score Myrtle Beach, S.C.—Junior pitcher Riley Kernan (Middletown, NJ) fired a four-hit shutout with three strikeouts as the Rhode Island College softball team blanked Eureka, 2-0, on Tuesday morning to win their fourth straight contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Devils were the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champions a year ago and had two of the top hitters in the nation from last spring on their roster. It was Eureka's first loss of the season
• The Anchorwomen scored what proved to be the game-winning run in the top of the third inning when freshman pinch runner Faith Turinese (Planiville, MA) scored on sophomore second baseman Marissa Cushman's (Cranston, RI) grounder to shortstop.
• RIC added an insurance run in the top of the fifth when Turinese scored on an error.
BY THE NUMBERS
• Kernan earned her second win (2-1) of the season.
• Senior shortstop Kelsey Burgess (North Providence, RI) went 2-for-2. Junior right fielder Erica Fluskey (Trumbull, CT) stayed hot at the plate with a 2-for-3 effort.
• Eureka junior pitcher Torre Koontz (Lakewood, IL) took the loss (1-1), allowing one unearned run on five hits in 4.1 innings of work.
