Danbury, Conn.--Senior first baseman Tyler Walsh (Cumberland, RI) went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI to lead the Rhode Island College baseball team to an impressive, 14-3, victory at Western Connecticut in a Little East Conference contest on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC junior catcher Sam Franco (Cranston, RI) went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI. Freshman designated hitter Stephen Andrews (Lincoln, RI) was 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI.

• Western Connecticut was led by junior Moe Ortiz-Echevarria (Norwalk, CT) who went 1-for-3 with two RBI in the setback.

• Freshman pitcher Connor Davey (Cheshire, CT) notched the complete-game victory (4-1) for RIC, allowing three runs on two hits with six strikeouts in seven innings of work.

• Senior Michael Esposito (Plainfield, CT) took the loss (0-1) for Western Connecticut, allowing three runs on five hits in .1 innings of work.

• RIC got all the runs it would need in the top of the fifth when the Anchormen scored five runs, highlighted by a pair of RBI doubles from Walsh and Andrews.  

• WCSU trimmed the lead to two, 5-3, with three runs in the bottom of the first, paced by a two-run triple from Ortiz-Echevarria.

• The Anchormen added two in the fourth and one in the fifth before junior second baseman Nate Vigeant (Coventry, RI) smacked a two-run double as part of a three-run sixth inning to give RIC the nine run, 12-3, lead.

• RIC then tacked on a pair of unearned runs in the top of the seventh to end the game early due to the 10-run rule.
