Box Score 2 Boston, Mass.—Senior catcher Chelsea Schott (Meriden, CT) went 4-for-7 with a run scored and one RBI as Rhode Island College closed out the 2018 season with a split at UMass Boston on Saturday afternoon. RIC took the opener, 5-4, and the Beacons won the nightcap, 10-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED: GAME ONE
• The Anchorwomen jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second when sophomore second baseman Marissa Matias (Swansea, MA) picked up an RBI single.
• RIC pushed four runs across in the fourth, paced by senior shortstop Nicole Venturini's (North Scituate, RI) three-run triple.
• The hosts scored one run each in the fourth and sixth to climb within three, 5-2. UMB catcher Roxanne Vento blasted a two-run homer in the seventh, but junior pitcher Briana Gough (West Warwick, RI) held off the Beacons to earn the win.
• Gough allowed four runs on 11 hits and struck out one in the win (6-10). UMB starter Jess Greenspan took the loss (7-14).
• RIC junior third baseman Cristin Chiaverini (Pawtucket, RI) went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
HOW IT HAPPENED: GAME TWO
• RIC once again took the early lead, as junior left fielder Emma Simmons (Saunderstown, RI) and Schott registered RBI singles.
• The Beacons quickly gained the advantage with a three-run effort in the bottom of the first, which was highlighted by first baseman Cassidy Baeta's two-run single.
• UMB scored one in the second, three in the third and one in the fifth to build an 8-2 lead. Chiaverini singled in a run in the sixth, before the Beacons tacked on two in the home half of the frame to seal the win.
• RIC junior starter Erica Fleming (Sagamore Beach, MA) suffered the loss (4-10). Greenspan picked up the win (8-14).
