HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC junior first baseman Tyler Walsh (Cumberland, RI) went 4-for-6 with two runs scored and an RBI, while sophomore shortstop Rommy Morel (Providence, RI) registered three hits in the loss.
• JWU senior center fielder Rob Ballinger (South Kingston, RI) went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and four RBI.
• Sophomore left fielder Vin Amalfitano (Massapequa, NY) and classmate third baseman Joe Maracic (Syosset, NY) each notched three hits in the win for the Wildcats.
• Senior Andrew Veiga (Lincoln, RI) suffered the loss (1-2) for RIC, allowing eight runs, four of them earned, on 10 hits with one strikeout in 5.2 innings of work.
• Senior Keith Grant (East Providence, RI) picked up the win (1-0) for JWU, giving up three runs on 12 hits in six innings.
