Box Score Gorham, Maine -- Senior midfielder Stephanie Ricci (Smithfield, RI) scored a goal and added an assist to help lead the Rhode Island College women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory at Southern Maine in a Little East Conference contest played at Hannaford Field on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC took a 1-0 lead midway through the first half on a strong individual effort from junior midfielder Olivia Capraro (North Providence, RI). Capraro took the ball away from a USM defender to create a one-on-one situation in the box and slid a shot past the outstretched hands of USM junior goalkeeper Taylor Canastra (Fairhaven, MA). Capraro's goal stood through the half with RIC holding an impressive, 11-3, advantage in shots for the stanza.
• The Anchorwomen went up, 2-0, just a minute and a half into the second frame as Ricci scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season with an assist credited to junior forward Brittany DeGrooth (Westerly, RI).
• RIC put the game away in the 83rd minute when Ricci fed junior forward Elena Couto (Coventry, RI) with a through ball down the right side of the field. Couto took a touch on the ball and then connected with a near-post goal for the 3-0 final.
• RIC freshman goalkeeper Carissa Gaglione (West Warwick, RI) made five saves to record her first career shutout. Canastra tallied 10 saves in the loss for the Huskies.
BY THE NUMBERS
• RIC outshot Southern Maine by a 19-7 margin and held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks in the victory.
