THE BASICS
Salve Regina 3, Rhode Island College 0
Salve Regina (10-12)
Rhode Island College (11-12)
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Salve went up as many as eight points, 21-13, in the opening stanza until the Anchorwomen closed the gap, 23-21, but it was not enough to defeat the Seahawks in the first round.
Â
• RIC struggled in the second frame with an uncharacteristic-like one service ace as the hosts tallied four of their own and went up, 2-0, on sets, 25-18.
Â
• Two kills from both senior middle hitter
Sydnee Pires (Rochester, Mass.) and sophomore pin hitter
Olivia Rollinson (Coventry, R.I.) in the third set would not give the visitors the momentum needed to keep the game alive as the Seahawks would sweep the RIC in three.
Â
• Bailey recorded double-digit digs for the 18th time this season.
Â
• Junior middle hitter
Andrayah Williams (North Providence, R.I.) paced RIC's offense with nine kills.
• Junior setter
Yuleisy Alvelo (San Juan, Puerto Rico) posted double-digit assists (12) for the 18th time this season as well.
