HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Wildcats steadily built up a lead in the first period, 20-15, forcing RIC to call a timeout, but the words of encouragement were not enough as the hosts would win, 25-19.

Marina Colonis (Waterford, Conn.) put down a winner to put the Anchorwomen up, 16-12, in the second frame, but could not hold on as JWU completed a comeback to win by two, 25-23, and go up two sets to none.

• Johnson and Wales cruised to a sweep, putting away RIC, 25-21, after the visitors, who were down by nine, 18-9, at one point, put up a valiant comeback effort.

Yuleisy Alvelo (San Juan, Puerto Rico) chipped in for the RIC offense with 12 assists.
