Christina Pirri begins her seventh season as the head women's soccer coach at Rhode Island College. Prior to taking the helm, Pirri spent three seasons (2012-14) as an assistant coach with the program.
She and the Anchorwomen persevered through a very difficult 2020-21 season due to Covid-19. The team practiced during the fall and competed in four matches during the spring.
In 2019, RIC was 4-13 overall. In 2018, Pirri led RIC to a 7-10-1 overall record and a 2-5-1 (seventh place) record in the Little East Conference.
In 2017, she guided RIC to a 5-12-1 overall record and a 2-4-1 record (fifth place) in the Little East Conference. RIC fell to fourth seeded UMass Boston, 2-0, in the opening round of the LEC Playoffs.
In 2016, she led the Anchorwomen to a 6-11-2 overall record and a 2-4-1 (sixth place) mark in the Little East Conference. The Anchorwomen qualified for the Little East Tournament for the first time since 2007 where they fell to third-seeded Western Connecticut in first round action. The club's six victories were the most in a season for the program since 2010.
Pirri posted a 3-14 overall record and a 1-6 (seventh place) mark in the Little East Conference during her first season at the helm in 2015.
During her time as an assistant, Pirri was involved with all phases of the RIC women’s soccer program, including recruiting, scouting, administering practice and game coaching.
She played in 66 games as a midfielder during her four-year career with the RIC women’s soccer team from 2006-09. During that time, she tallied 16 goals and four assists for 36 career points. Pirri ranks 11th all-time in program history in goals, while placing 16th in points. She was a two-time Second Team All-Little East Conference selection (2009, ’08) and was named the squad’s MVP as a junior in 2008.
The Middletown, Conn. native also participated in the 2007 and 2011 women’s lacrosse seasons. She saw action in 20 career games, starting nine of them. For her career, Pirri totaled two goals and one assist for three points to go along with six shots, six ground balls, four draw controls and one caused turnover.
Pirri earned her bachelor’s degree in graphic design and art history from Rhode Island College in 2011 and resides in Bristol, R.I.
She earned All-Conference and All-Academic team honors in soccer while at Middletown High School where she was a 2006 graduate. Pirri received the Kelme Player Award in 2004.
