Mark Holmes begins his fifth season at the coordinator of men's basketball operations at Rhode Island College.

Holmes has held coaching positions at various institutions during his career. He has been an assistant coach at the Ben Franklin Institute of Technology, Framingham State University, Newbury College (MA) and Emmanuel College (MA). For the past three years, he has been an assistant varsity boys’ basketball coach at Milton Academy. Holmes has instructed at basketball camps and showcase events at UConn, Villanova, Harvard, Brown, Columbia, The Hoop Group, The New England Recruiting Report and John Lucas Basketball Resources. Holmes is also a certified USA Basketball Nike youth development instructor and a skills instructor/coach for the New England Spartans Basketball Club (Westwood, MA).

Holmes graduated from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth with a bachelor’s degree in visual design and communications. He was a member of the 1992-93 UMass Dartmouth men’s basketball team where his contributions helped his team advance to the NCAA Div. III Tournament Final Four. It is the only basketball team in UMass Dartmouth’s history to play in a Final Four and was inducted into the Corsair Hall of Fame.

Holmes has completed master’s level courses in special education at Cambridge College and is currently teaching special education in the Boston Public Schools. He and his wife Tracy reside in Dorchester, Massachusetts.
