Cross Country, Track & Field

Sharon (Hall) Galloway was a standout on RIC’s women’s cross country and track & field teams from 1982-87. Galloway earned All-New England, All-ECAC and All-Conference honors during her cross country career and was one of only two Rhode Island College student-athletes ever to qualify for the NCAA Div. III Cross Country Championships in 1984.

Galloway earned Tri-State All-Conference and All-ECAC honors during her cross country career. In track, she still holds the school record in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:51.50, a mark that has stood for 21 years. Galloway received the Helen M. Murphy Award as a senior in 1987. She was named to RIC’s All-75th Anniversary Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field Teams in 2005.

The Charlestown, Rhode Island native earned a bachelor’s degree in both nursing and psychology from Rhode Island College in 1987 and her master’s degree in health education from RIC in 2003.

She is a registered nurse and is currently a health occupation instructor at the Warwick Career Center.

Galloway resides in Scituate, Rhode Island with her husband Mark and their children, Christina, Rebecca and Donald.
