West Hartford, Conn.--Junior classmates Emilia Houwers (Whitewater, Wisc.) and Haylie Peacock (West Gardiner, Maine) each went 2-0 as the Rhode Island College women's tennis team opened the 2026 season with a, 7-0, at Hartford on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Houwers and classmate Arianna DeThomas (Providence, R.I.) took No. 2 doubles, 6-1, while sophomore Addison Hadlock (Littleton, N.H.) paired with senior Ivy Par (Pawtucket, R.I.) to win 6-1 at No. 3 doubles and secure the doubles point.
 
• DeThomas and Houwers kicked off singles action with back-to-back wins.
 
• Sophomore Faith Owren (Richmond, R.I.) clinched the match for the Anchorwomen with a straight set (6-1, 6-0), at No. 4 singles.
 
• Sophomore Addison Hadlock (Littleton, N.H.) pitched a shutout (6-0, 6-0) at fifth singles.
