Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College senior back Leah Saunders (Smithfield, R.I.) was named the Little East Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for her performance in a 1-1 week for the Anchorwomen last week.
 
Saunders was outstanding in a 1-0 loss vs. Brandeis on Sept. 23. She was equally impressive in a 1-0 win over Southern Maine on Sept. 25, as RIC held the Huskies to eight shot attempts, none of which were on goal.
 
For the season, Saunders has played in eight games, starting all of them. She has one goal for two points on the season.
 
Head Coach Phil Pincince's team is 6-2 overall and 2-1 in the Little East.
 
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Lesley on Monday, Sept. 28 (4 p.m.).
