Anchorwomen Blank Salve Regina, 3-0, to Secure Third Straight Shutout Win

Providence, R.I.--Junior pin hitter Olivia Rollinson (Coventry, R.I.) recorded a team-high 10 kills as Rhode Island College registered its third consecutive sweep with a 3-0 win over Salve Regina at The Murray Center on Thursday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC caught the early lead as the hosts built up a 10-7 lead in the first set before embarking on a 12-7 run, which put them in control for the rest of the frame to win, 25-19.
 
• Senior pin hitter/defensive specialist Brookelyn Feola (Riverside, R.I.) knocked down a pair of crucial service aces, which would eventually lead to the Anchorwomen going up, 2-0, on sets with a 25-17 second-stanza win.
 
• RIC could not break away from the visitors in the last frame. However, the Anchorwomen capitalized off three errors in the last four points to seal the team's third consecutive sweep.
 
• Senior outside hitter Sarina Marines (Cranston, R.I.) led the team defensively with 10 digs and pitched in offensively with eight kills.
 
• Senior setter Yuleisy Alvelo (San Juan, Puerto Rico) notched a match-high 18 assists for the Anchorwomen.
 
• This was also the fifth shutout from the Anchorwomen this season.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Emerson for a tri-match with the Lions and Muhlenberg on Saturday, Sept. 19 (12:30 p.m.).
