Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Corsairs scored two goals within the first five minutes of the game, but the Anchorwomen were able to get one back thanks to junior attacker
Taylor Lambert (Richmond, R.I.).
Â
• The second period went scoreless until the 3:53 mark when Macaruso netted the tying goal, but it would not hold for long as UMD took the lead, 3-2, with just a second remaining in the first half.
Â
• Despite another equalizer, this time from freshman midfielder
Sadie Robitaille (Coventry, R.I.) to knot it up at three apiece, the visitors went on a 5-0 scoring run to end the third frame ahead by five, 8-3.
Â
• The Corsairs never gave the short-handed Anchorwomen any hope at a comeback as a free position goal from junior attacker
Livia Sweeney (North Kingstown, R.I.) was the only fourth stanza marker for the hosts.
Â
• Sophomore midfielder
Kaylee Vieira (East Providence, R.I.) notched five ground balls, four draw controls and caused a pair of turnovers.
Â
• Sophomore goalkeeper
Abaigeal Estano (Goffstown, N.H.) stopped five shots in the loss (0-7).
• The Anchorwomen were without their leading scorer in junior midfielder
Lily Nees (Rehoboth, Mass.).
