HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchorwomen continued the momentum off of their season-opening win in the morning as junior left fielder
Melanie Earley (Lumberton, N.J.) scored on a passed ball in the second, which started a four-run frame.
Â
• Bell smacked her first career longball with a two-run shot to left center field and junior catcher
Brianna Bailey (Windsor, Conn.) came across on an error to cap the inning's offense.
Â
• A lone run from Penn State Berks in the fourth did not trouble the Anchorwomen as an Earley RBI single put RIC up, 5-1, in the bottom half of the fifth.
Â
• Bailey and Earley each went 2-for-3 with a run scored, while sophomore shortstop
Joey Meyer (South Milwaukee, Wis.) went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
• Junior pitcher
Ashleigh von der Linden (Stratham, N.H.) threw a complete game, striking out eight in the win (1-0).
