HOW IT HAPPENED
• After a scoreless and defensive first two innings, the Wildcats knocked in seven runs and hit three doubles in the third frame to take the lead, 7-0.

• Bell hit a two-run home run in the next half inning, but the hosts matched it with two runs of their own and held onto their seven-run lead, 9-2.

• Junior left fielder Melanie Earley (Lumberton, N.J.) started a three-run burst from RIC in the fifth, but it seemed like the Wildcats had all the answers as a two-run blast made it an 11-5 advantage for the home team.

• The Anchorwomen fought until the very end as junior catcher Brianna Bailey (Windsor, Conn.) brought in two as part of a three-run final inning until the hosts finally closed the door.

• Sophomore shortstop Joey Meyer (South Milwaukee, Wis.) went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored. Classmate first baseman Jillian Guilfoyle (Derby, Conn.) went 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI.

• Senior pitcher Gabby Cunha (Cranston, R.I.) took the loss in the circle (3-4).
