Providence, R.I.--Senior second baseman
Noelle Simmons (Goffstown, N.H.) went 2-for-3 and cranked two home runs as Rhode Island College Softball took down Johnson and Wales, 13-9, to split a doubleheader at the SMAC Softball Field on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Simmons started the game with a leadoff homer and accomplished the same feat in her next at-bat as RIC got up on the Wildcats early, 4-0, through two innings.
• After two runs to start the third, JWU capitalized on their momentum as a three-run blast to left center put the hosts ahead by one, 5-4.
• Junior right fielder
Olivia Brett (Sewell, N.J.) scored on an error in the fourth to tie it at five, then senior center fielder
Sophia Crudale (Cranston, R.I.) brought in a pair with a double in the fifth to kick off a six-run stanza.
• The Anchorwomen put the final touches on the evening with a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh as junior
Sydney Duclos (North Providence, R.I.) notched an RBIs ingle.
• Freshman pitcher
Mia Crudale (Cranston, R.I.) faced some trouble in the final frame, but got the job done once again (8-0) in another complete game effort with nine strikeouts.
• Brett went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and sophomore shortstop
Joey Meyer (South Milwaukee, Wis.) went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East play with a doubleheader at home vs. UMass Dartmouth on Saturday, April 4 (noon).
